10 Things You Can Only Do in USA
America is truly the country of freedom. In fact, in the United States you can keep an alligator at home or build a weapon. Let’s discover together ten things that can be done in America and are prohibited in the rest of the world! Here is the list of 10 weird things that are allowed in the United States while prohibited in many other countries around the world. Are you ready to read some… Americanish?
In America you can…
1. Drink artificially colored sodas.
Soft drinks with fluorescent highlighter colors, which usually contain a brominated vegetable oil that is harmful, are legal in America. You will never find them on the shelves of European or Japanese supermarkets… but in America, yes!
2. Buy hormones
Hormones are chemical messengers that put cells or groups of cells in contact with each other to activate reactions in the organism such as growth or the sense of hunger. In the United States, on the other hand, hormones can even be purchased at the supermarket (not even at the pharmacy) and without a prescription! In many other countries of the world, hormones cannot even be sold in pharmacies because, if used without knowledge, they can cause serious health problems.
3. Buying incandescent light bulbs
In Europe they have been out of the market since 2012. In the USA, incandescent light bulbs (like Edi, the friend of Archimedes Pythagorean) can still be purchased in many countries, despite their total abolition would be an advantage for the environment.
4. Use plastic bags
Banned in many European countries and replaced by biodegradable and recyclable bags, in American policies (with the exception of some states) plastic bags can still be used to take home shopping from the supermarket.
5. Spank the students
Be careful to make jokes to the teachers! In 19 US states including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas, professors may later spank you to punish you.
6) Walking bare-chested (including women) on the streets of New York
In New York, in public places, both men and women can walk around naked in the upper part of the body without risking being arrested. And, if the owner of the venue agrees, even in restaurants and bars.
7. Name your child: “Google”
Do you want to call your child Google, as the most famous search engine in the world? Or call it Hashtag or Mac? No problem: the registrar will not object.
8. Building a weapon at home
In addition to the free license of weapons (ie the possibility for all citizens to own and use a weapon), anyone can build one at home. Maybe a lightsaber (below) as a garage hobby!
9. Owning a Flamethrower, Lightsaber, or Other Weapon
No American law expressly prohibits the possession of lethal weapons, such as a flamethrower. Nor, as we have seen above, to build them by oneself.
10. Keep an alligator at home
The possession of any exotic or wild animal is expressly forbidden but each American state has different rules. In Idaho, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, North and South Carolina, West Virginia and Wisconsin, for example, you might as well keep an alligator or a Bengal tiger in your garden. And the neighbors couldn’t protest!
