In a move that shocked many within the Democrat Party, President Obama called a surprise press conference in the rose garden Wednesday morning. Standing arm-in-arm with Indiana governor Mike Pence, the president defended the controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
In stark opposition to many public figures including even his own former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, Obama pledged to defend the legislation, vowing to work with Republicans in congress to enact a similar piece of legislation that would afford the same protections for all Americans.
“All Americans should have the right to opt-out of any activity that violates their moral or religious convictions, no matter how unpopular,” Obama told reporters, “After all, that’s what the First Amendment is all about, protecting controversial ideas. Conventional ideas and speech needs no protection.”
Reporters appeared shocked by the President’s sudden conviction regarding the US Constitution, a document many assumed he’d never bothered to read.
“Is this all part of an elaborate April Fool’s prank?” asked ACDN reporter Hazel Kruze.
“Yes,” Obama replied, “Yes it is.”
Happy April Fools from the ACDN team!
